General Questions

What is Wam?

Wam is a mobile wallet app designed to make financial transactions easier, faster, and more inclusive in the Caribbean. Using the Wam app, you can securely store money in your digital wallet, send or receive payments, and make purchases — whether you have a bank account or not.

Who is Wam for?

Wam is for individuals and small businesses looking for a simple, secure way to manage, send and receive money.

Is my money safe in Wam?

Absolutely. Wam is regulated by the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago as an Electronic Money Issuer (EMI). We use state-of-the-art security features to protect your funds and personal information.

Where can I download the Wam app?

You can download the Wam app from the Apple App Store or Google Play store.

Where is Wam available?

Wam is based in Trinidad and Tobago, but our future ambitions include international expansion.

What can I do with Wam right now?

In this early version of Wam, you can:

  • Send and receive money between Wam users (P2P)

  • Top up your wallet or withdraw money from your wallet via bank transfer

  • Cash in and cash out with our pilot agent at the Wam office: 74 Long Circular Road, St. James

This is just the beginning. We’ve launched this first version to get Wam into your hands — so you can try it out, see what’s possible, and help shape where we go next.

We're building Wam together, and your feedback helps guide what comes next. Look out for upcoming features like business payments and more agent locations — coming soon!

Do I need a bank account to use Wam?

No, you don’t. You can visit a Wam agent to convert cash to Wam (electronic money), and vice versa! Therefore you can use Wam even if you don’t have a bank account.

Is there an annual fee for a Wam wallet?

No, there’s no annual fee for using a Wam wallet. Wam aims to keep costs low to ensure accessibility for everyone. Some transaction fees may apply, but these will always be transparently communicated.

What are the transaction fees?

There will be no fees for cashing in (i.e. adding funds into your Wam wallet) and peer-to-peer payments. Cashing out will incur a 2% flat fee to the individual on the amount requested to be withdrawn from the Wam wallet.
